For anything happening right now, telephone rather than using this form — the night line is carried by somebody on the crew and the form is not.
If there is fire, if you can smell gas, or if the building has been hit structurally, ring 911 — not us and not this form. If there is standing water near live electrical equipment, the power comes off from a point outside the water before anybody steps in. Before you call us sets out which situations are ours and which are not.

Three minutes' walk from 61st Street–Woodside on the 7, and from the Long Island Rail Road platform directly above it. The Q18, Q32, Q53 and Q70 all stop within two blocks. You should not need to come here — we come to you — but the contents store is on this site and people do collect from it.
There is metered street parking on 61st Street and free two-hour parking on the residential blocks east of it. If you are collecting belongings from the contents store, telephone first: somebody will meet you at the bay door and help you load rather than leave you circling with a car full of nothing.
A real person, and a real time. The night telephone is carried by somebody on this crew, and it is answered by a person who does the work rather than by a call centre booking for a franchise network. That is not the same as promising to be at your door in thirty minutes, and we will not print a number of minutes we cannot keep. What you will get is a real person, an honest answer about when we can be there, what to do in the meantime — and, if the safe thing is to call the fire department or the utility instead of us, that answer immediately and at no charge.
What to have ready when you ring
None of this is essential and nobody will be annoyed if you have none of it, but it makes the first two minutes much more useful: roughly when the building was put up, what happened and when it started, whether the water is still arriving, whether the power is on in the affected area, and whether the water came from a pipe or from a drain. That last one changes the job more than anything else you can tell us.
And if you are ringing about something that has already been going on for a while — a stain that keeps coming back, a smell nobody can find — say so. It is a completely different conversation from an emergency and it usually ends with a survey rather than a van.
At any hour
A person, and an honest answer
A large part of what the night telephone does is tell people that what they have will keep until morning. That answer costs you nothing and costs us a call-out, which is exactly why it is worth trusting.
